God’s Love Has No Reason

The song opens with the profound truth: “Without any reason, without any selfishness, You chose me, O Jesus.” This declares God’s unconditional love. God didn’t choose us because we were good, worthy, or had something to offer. He chose us purely by grace. Ephesians 1:4-5 says “He chose us in Him before the creation of the world… in love He predestined us for adoption.” God’s election is not based on our merit but on His sovereign love and good pleasure.

What Is There in Me?

“What is there in me, O Jesus? My life was ruined and corrupt”  honest acknowledgment of personal unworthiness. The singer recognizes there was nothing good in them that made God choose them. Their life was “chediyunna” (ruined, corrupt, broken). This is humility before God. Romans 3:23 says “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We have nothing to boast about. God chose us despite our brokenness, not because of any worth in us.

Cannot Describe God’s Love

“O Jesus, is it my ability to describe Your love?”  rhetorical question with obvious answer: No! God’s love is beyond human description. No words are sufficient to express the depth, height, width, and breadth of God’s love. Ephesians 3:18-19 says we may “grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge.” God’s love surpasses human understanding and cannot be fully described.
